Microgreens
Why we love them
Microgreens are tiny plants harvested at seed leaf or true leaf stage for their amazing flavour and nutrient density. Like sprouts and shoots they are germinated to activate all those nutrients and antioxidants which makes them rich ready to grow to a full plant, unbelievably containing 4-40 times more nutrients than the seed itself or the full grown plant. These can be vegetables, herbs or leafy greens or seeds. Different to sprouts as they are grown in soil, and harvested at the next stage, compared to being grown in water.

Sustainability
Our farm aims to be as sustainable and organic as possible so as the consumer you can feel pleased to be supporting an organic, sustainable, local small business. We only use certified organic soil or compost and aim to use certified organic seed when available, if unavailable it is definitely pesticide free untreated seed. There is no need for sprays, pesticides or herbicides and we avoid anything similar. Steering clear of any
Capturing Energy
Our Solar Panels, Batteries, Ice Storage
We are off grid and very conscious of our power usage, utilizing solar with greenhouses capturing the natural light and solar panels to capture that energy. Rainwater is captured and utilized when available. Ice storage is used in our cool room, when there is extra energy available ice is made and creates less energy usage by our cool room.
Energy Efficient Greenhouses
Geothermal Temperature Control
Geothermal heating and cooling allows the germination of seed out of season, and is the least energy intensive method of doing so. It directly brings the stored heat out of the ground and to our seed beds and removes that extra heat in summer to increase the ground temperature for winter.
